A jury of seven women and five men was selected quickly for the Arthur Bremer trial over the 1972 Wallace assassination attempt. Bremer, 21, listened as jurors were questioned, with tight security and extensive room checks as about 30 to 40 officers guarded the courtroom.
Private talks between developer Michael J. Croghan and city parking chairman Glenmore Rice target the Hotel Frederick on North Market Street. If purchased and razed, the land could become a 140000 square foot parking area. aldermen must approve the deal at the Thursday meeting.
Eight people injured four miles north of Putman Road when a car and tractor trailer collided after a passing maneuver. Robert Henry Young, 502 Pinewood St Rockville, swerved to avoid the truck, the sedan was cut in half. Young in satisfactory condition with a broken jaw at Frederick Memorial Hospital. His wife Constance Virginia in critical condition in ICU. Passengers including Susan Chomko listed in satisfactory condition.
Four families displaced by the flood last month moved into new Rose Hill Manor mobile homes. Four more families are set to relocate this week and will stay at Rose Hill trailers until Fort Letrick site completion next month. The first occupants include Jack Keiser and the Ramsburg and Dawson families, all uprooted from flood damaged homes.

John Dudley, a 29 year old March of Dimes charity walker, reports from Denver after traveling 1,683 miles of a 2,878 mile route. He plans to reach the Golden Gate Bridge in about 30 days then return to Baltimore to resume studies at the University of Baltimore. He travels mostly at night, trekking desert sections and desert miles, with a 33 pound backpack and a future jet return plan with his wife awaiting him at the western end.
Frederick City and County residents cannot obtain National Flood Insurance protection. The program requires individuals to be in a designated flood district, which city or county officials must apply to the National Flood Insurance Agency or HUD to qualify. Some Maryland jurisdictions are already in the emergency program.

City officials join a champagne toast as Frederick launches its first baby blue City Bus Line. The three 43-seat buses, with stop cords and side exits, run a route from East Street to Monocacy Village and back via Fourteenth Street and Mott er Avenue, serving seniors with reduced fares.
