Frederick County plans a 94.7 million bond issue approved by the Board of Commissioners to finance general government, sewer and water projects, and to convert notes to long term debt. The sale will raise total indebtedness to about 270 million while leaving limited remaining bonding authority.

Demolition Ordered After West All Saints Collapse
A wall collapse during renovations at 161 W All Saints Street led city officials and a structural engineer to raze the two story duplex. The 1800s-built house, owned by Shawn Day and recently purchased from the South End Coalition, was undermined by undermined footings and a Bobcat strike. Traffic was halted in the 100 block as demolition proceeded and no residents were affected.

Lone Star Steakhouse Robbery In Frederick County
Two robbers held up the Lone Star Steakhouse at Spectrum Drive this morning firing a shot and forcing three employees into a freezer. No injuries were reported as deputies pursued suspects, and a witness said a bullet whizzed by an employee. Evidence, including a piece found in the parking lot, is being examined.

Former Mount Airy Mayor Dixon Dies at 77
Dixon, longtime Mount Airy mayor for 14 years and former council member, died Tuesday at his Mount Airy home after a lengthy illness. A mechanical engineer, he worked for the Navy at White Oak and at Fort Detrick. Born March 19, 1922 in Durham, he was husband of Bev and founder of Commercial Fuel Systems.
