Raritan Club Forms in Lewistown Meeting
A new Raritan Club is being formed in Lewistown. At a Tuesday night meeting in the Lewistown Citizens Association Hall, organizers led by James Rhoten Alton Powell and Charles Edward Green invited community leaders to join as charter members. At least 21 Lewistown residents pledged charter membership as Jefferson Ruritan Club delegates aided the effort.

Eisenhowers Visit Mamie’s Mother in Denver
President and Mrs. Eisenhower arrived in Denver to see Mamie’s ailing mother Euvera Doud, touching down at Lowry Air Force Base at 4 14 p m. They will stay at the Brown Palace Hotel during a four day visit before returning to Newport News for vacation and then Washington. Eisenhower had spoken in Chicago where up to a million greeted him as he urged GOP unity and warned against extreme gutter politics.
