Double Shifts Predicted for Montgomery Students
Montgomery County school officials said double shifts for at least two thousand pupils and crowding at several elementary schools are expected as enrollment for 1960-61 could reach 30,634, about six thousand more than last year. The overcrowding might hit Shgo Jumer Hien, Harmony Park Street, West Poolesville, Germantown, and Damascus elementary schools, with relief planned after six new elementary schools and a new junior high open in early 1961. Bids for a new athletic field at Gaithersburg High were rejected as too high.
