Five Hours of Talks End Without Airport Decision

The Civil Aeronautics Authority refused to waive runway compaction standards at Frederick City airport. After nearly five hours of meetings with city officials, engineers, and the contractor, no firm action was agreed, as moisture and soil conditions hindered meeting the 95 percent compaction requirement on Runway No. 3. Officials warned the project would incur extra costs, with continued idle equipment and possible payments to the contractor for work already bid.
