A log house along Wolfsville Mountain Road burned late Sunday night and was reduced to ashes by early Monday. Smithsburg firefighters fought the blaze with all three local units and water trucks from neighboring towns as a water shortage hampered efforts. Jacoby on Bridge Column Brief Readouts
Short bridge notes from Jacoby discuss play ideas and bidding themes. The column provides quick insights for bidding decisions and card handling.
Best Percentage Is In Bidding
Bridge dialogue notes a North hand where partner opens one heart and responder goes one spade. After opener rebids two hearts, responder shifts to three clubs and the partner rebids to.
Bridge hand description with opening lead and bids
A bridge deal sequence shows South as dealer with passes from North and East. The record notes a 2 level overcall, 3 notrump auction, and an opening lead of a diamond. The hand details include suits and vulnerability, illustrating a standard bridge bidding and play scenario.
Three Hearts Decision in Bridge Bid Narrative
A bridge hand discussion contrasts the pessimist passing, the optimist choosing between three notrump and four hearts, and the group deciding between a bid and pass after showing all cards. The excerpt ends with a plan to play.
Pass in Three Hearts in Bridge Is Questioned
The dialogue analyzes a faultless three hearts bid in bridge. It argues South can fail to make nine tricks after East wins with the ace and South loses two heart tricks and the ace of diamonds. It concludes passing three hearts would be wrong and that four hearts is preferable for North South based on the cards shown.
