Fort Meade NSA toxic leaks hidden from public view
Federal documents obtained through FOIA show more than 40 NSA workers injured in chemical spills over four years, including a hydrochloric acid leak, with mustard gas buried near Fort Meade. EPA and Navy Academy reports cite additional suspected hazardous waste sites, while federal facilities dodge full disclosure under the 198 act.

Former warden warned of vulnerable fence in 1986
Baltimore AP report says former Maryland House of Correction warden Ralph W. Packard warned in February 1986 that the recreation yard fence was a security risk and might fail if inmates pressed it. The 16 foot high fence was later involved in two escapes, a shootout in Florida, and ongoing investigations into emergency funding for improvements.
