James T Lloyd First Missouri congressman biography
James T Lloyd is the Democratic congressman for Missouri’s First District and Shelbyville resident. Born 1857 in Canton Lewis County, he graduated from Canton Christian University in 1878, taught, became a lawyer, served as county attorney 1880 to 1893, and was elected to the Fifty-fifth Congress to fill a vacancy and has been reelected since.

Devastating Lightning Storm Punishes New Jersey and Pennsylvania
A fierce lightning storm in New Jersey and the Philadelphia vicinity caused about £960,000 in damage. Crops in southern New Jersey suffered heavily with at least twenty fields struck and destroyed. A lone Italian farm hand was killed near Woodbury, New Jersey. Reports from Berks and Schuylkill counties cited extensive property losses and ruined crops. In Camden and Philadelphia, buildings were struck, rail and trolley lines were washed out, and the region endured a second drenching with widespread damage.
