Carroll County Considers Phase-Out of Inventory Tax
Carroll County Commissioners hold a public hearing on abolishing the inventory tax with a 10 year phase out for existing business while new firms receive immediate relief. The action aims to attract new industry to the county, despite an estimated $28 000 first year revenue loss. The measure follows a 1964 legislative act and comes after the Economic Development Commission urged it. The chamber notes concerns some firms may view the plan as unfair to existing businesses.
