City drops housing plan to mix poor and middle class

Baltimore officials abandon a plan to mix middle income and poor residents in subsidized rowhouses replacing Lafayette Courts and Lexington Terrace. 800-plus units of Lafayette Courts were razed and 670-unit Lexington Terrace will be demolished this Saturday. Critics call the move a mistake undermining a recent ACLU settlement to create mixed income public housing replacing Flag House Courts and Murphy Homes in coming years.
