St Louis Star reporter Harry T Brundidge alleges Al Capone admitted having many newspapermen on his payroll and claims Chicago police know who killed Alfred Lingie. Brundidge says Capone branded as untrue the charge of alliances with gadgivers and other Chicago men.
Bishop James Cannon Jr of the A. Church South, married in London to Helen Hawley McCallum, will remain in South America on church work until next December. He will reach Madeira after inspecting work there, then proceed to Brazil for official conferences through November.
J Grove appeals to the Public Service Commission seeking immediate strengthening of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad bridge over the Monocacy river approach after a collapse killed three and injured seven. Grove cites seven ton capacity and cites correspondence with the State Roads Commission noting the bridge is not state owned.
Portsmouth N H July 22 AP the submarine V-5 largest in the world left the Portsmouth navy yard for builder s trials off Provincetown Mass with about 85 officers and men. After trials she will be inspected by navy officials and Congress members at Annapolis before departing for duties in South American waters.
