Automobiles rally in the fourth annual Glidden Tour passing Frederick as part of a 1570 mile eastbound route from Bedford Springs to Baltimore. Cars stop for meals, fuel, and quick greetings with old friends, with 68 vehicles noted at Bedford Springs and others en route toward Philadelphia and New York.
Thomas D Baker of Mi Airy Carroll county died July 13 in Baltimore after a brief illness aged 71. Funeral and services held at Prospect Church with pallbearers from Prosperity Lodge I O O F. Mrs Florence Elizabeth Dake of Bakerton WV widow of Robert Dake died June 19 aged 64. She was daughter of Capt Joseph Oblwell of Back Lystown and survived by two sons in Washington and several siblings. Mabel H Cook died at 46 West Patrick Street from exhaustion aged 27 months. Funeral at Manor Church with interment at nearby cemetery.
Emily Jane Rideout a colored woman was buried after a funeral held yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at the Bookeys town M E Church conducted by Rev BF O Carroll. The Laboring Song and Daughters Society attended in full regalia. Pallbearers included Clay Diggs W H Johnson N J Calph Bell John Johnson Dantel Bell and W H Brown. Interment followed at Hope Hill cemetery. Thomas P Rica served as funeral director.
Miss Cacella Titlow hosted a straw ride in Buckeystown honoring Mira Lota Hargett of Gormantown and Dish Taney of Baltimore. The event was enjoyed by guests. Milas Ariana Gonso of Baltimore gave a trolley party to Jefferson this morning for 608 friends in the city.
William Daily a 17 year old from Rhode Island avenue northwest Washington drowned while swimming at Camp Ordway near Barper'e Ferry with T B Taylor of the brigade band of the Dig bles of Columb's militia. The coroner's jury ruled accidental drowning after Taylor testified he saw Daily dive and strike his head on a socki and fail to swim ashore. Daily's father Dr William A Daily brought the body to the capital.
The hotel lists a long gathering of guests including J J and J Whitehurst, John W Waltz family, A W McCoy and Mrs McCoy, Mr and Mrs Barclay with a maid and three children, Dr G W Light, Dr Milisz and wife, Miss EH G Howard of Baltimore, Mrs O W Pointer, Mrs H Edmunds, Mrs W L Richardson, Mrs M A Wier, and many others from places such as Baltimore Washington Philadelphia Brooklyn New York City Raleigh and Leominster among others.
The late Catherine Elizabeth Derzbaugh’s will is filed in Orphans' Court. It directs sale and equal division of real estate among her children Ewesa William Genry Dertzbaugk Ostherica Elizabeth Green Georgetta Bopst Harries Martin Charles Joseph Dertzbaugh and grandchild Bary Wonager. Personal property like household goods and kitchen furniture are split among Elizabeth Geen Georgetta Bappas Harries Martin and Mary Wondar. David H. Moberly is named sole executor.
A list of remaining advertised letters at the Brederick city postoffice dated Saturday July 20 1907. To obtain these letters applicants must call for advertised letters in two weeks or they will be sent to the dead letter office. Good crops on the Eastern Shore raise prospects for preacher salaries. Rev. W. L. White of Chestertown will see pay increase from 1000 to 1100 dollars per year. Clergy across the area are expected to gain as fruit and crops bring high prices and farmers enjoy strong earnings. The season’s outlook is described as promising for dollar wheat.
Baseball game played Saturday afternoon on the grounds opposite the Ox Fibre Brosh Works. Brush Works defeated White Hagies by 76 to 02. Batters for Brush Works were Butler Phobus Kaglie Pearl Wickless. Frederick Juniora and the Orioles scheduled to play this evening at 6 o'clock on the same grounds.
New wheat is arriving at Farmeara Exchange and Mountain City Bill. The grain is described as very tough from premature threshing and insufficient drying. Despite this, quality is reported as very fine. Maryland wheat crop this year is projected to be 2 900 000 bushels smaller than last year.
J Coleman Bowers through attorney Joseph W Gaver filed a bill for divorce and vincolo matrimonii from wife Mary E Bowers on abandonment grounds. They married in this county in 1867 by Rev Benjamin O Flaters and formerly resided near Lewistown.
John Carroll, described as colored, was arrested Saturday night by Officer Herwig and charged with baling drank and digor gerly. He appeared before Justice C. H. Eckstein and was fined 250, which he paid.
A Baltimore and Ohio Railroad excursion yesterday carried 170 people from the city split as 89 to Washington and 81 to Baltimore.
A horse stolen from the table of Mr. Charles Hamilton on South Market Street on Saturday night was recovered yesterday on the farm of Mr. John F. Stine near the city.
A roundup of Sunday services at St John’s Catholic, German Baptist, First Baptist, Methodist, Trinity, Evangelical Reformed, United Brethren, Presbyterian, All Saints’ Episcopal, Sokiesville Lutheran, and Grace Reformed churches. Reports include times, preachers, Sunday school notes, and emphasis on the Anti-Saloon League with sermons by Rev. Wm H Anderson and Rev. Royal M. Raymond.
A Baltimore American review suggests Democratic support coalesces around Frederick's Joseph D. Baker, despite organizational opposition and talk he would fit better with Prohibition. Baker's temperance stance boosts his image as a decisive, convictions-led candidate. Twenty Company A soldiers, led by Captain John D. Markey, depart at 6 10 for Glanbarnie, Md, to a week of drill at the State Rifle Range, returning Saturday.

An unidentified man’s body is found in harbor. a colored sailor drowns in Ganton Hollow.
Sunday events in Braddock Heights drew large crowds with a 5 to 6 pm hotel lobby concert by the Braddock Heights Orchestra featuring Mrs Mery Steckel-Burok. A 7:08 pm choir service gathered over 600 inside and 300 outside, with solo by Mr Grayson Staley and a ten minute address by Mr Adolphus Fearhake.
The annual Lutheran reunion will be held at Pen Mar next Thursday with Rev. Dr. S. W. Owen presiding. Drs. Hartman Wolf Bowars and Mrs. J. F. Krechting will give addresses. A Lizza choir Miss Ruth Clutz Gettysburg will sing. The Pen-Mar Orchestra will provide music for the gathering.
