Explorers find stern of the Titanic intact
Explorers led by Robert Ballard report the stern of the Titanic largely intact about 660 feet from the bow in the debris field 24 miles below the Atlantic surface near Newfoundland. They used the remotely controlled camera from the Atlantis I and plan further dives to view the name and other features while sharing films and photos from the deep wreck.
