County Woman Tames Lion Cubs at Catoctin Zoo
Mary Anne Hahn wife of park director Robert Hahn tends two mountain lion cubs born June 13 at the Catoctin Mountain Zoological Park near Thurmont. The cubs are fed by eye dropper and milk and now eat from bowls, later to serve as mascots for Catoctin High and as aids in Hahn talks on wildlife conservation and education. The pair, untamed at birth and kept indoors, are part of a small herd including a baby wolf and a baby coyote adopted months earlier. The zoo aims to breed the cougars in about three years while keeping the cubs tame through regular handling. The park is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to dusk.
