Defense Attorney Attacks Warrant Over Child Case
Defense attorney Ralph Powers argued to Judge Gray that charging parents for “every unfortunate accident” could create a police state in Maryland. He questioned whether Prescott was a guardian when the alleged crime occurred and noted the warrant didn’t show Prescott knew the infant would be harmed. Powers claimed no crime was committed under the warrants and that the animal described was possibly an ocelot claimed to be tame.
