Shelter under review at Betty Ann Center in Rockville
Suzann Mustafa spoke for residents alleging abuse and neglect at the Betty Ann Center shelter. She described fear of retaliation for reporting, lack of basic supplies, dirty conditions, mice, and a resident’s child sexual assault by another resident’s minor son. Staff were accused of unprofessional behavior and evictions. County officials announced a Community Review Panel to investigate by October 15 with DHHS staff and a National Association of Social Workers liaison leading the effort.
