Skeleton from Tudor wreck buried in English cathedral
A Tudor Mary Rose skeleton was buried in Portsmouth Cathedral on the 14th of July 1984 after a largely Latin Tudor rite service. The burial honors some 700 who died when the flagship sank in 1545 as 230 French ships loomed in the Channel. The coffin rested on oak, protected by guards, with a York slate inscription and a requiem by John Taverner.
