Dredging could cost $1 million for Lake Whetstone
Lake Whetstone in Montgomery Village faces silt buildup risking marshland. Expert Mike Clar estimates 42,000 cubic yards of silt and a potential dredge cost near $1 million. Disposal within a nearby site, or draining the lake then restoring depth, are under study with funding sought from federal, state, and local sources. Public fees fund maintenance, but a dredge may exceed reserves.
