Frederick County bridges praised for historic preservation effort
Frederick County earns praise from Donald C Jackson for proactive protection of early iron and metal truss bridges. The county catalogued bridges, identified 39 metal types, and, with the Roads Department, slated six metal truss and three covered bridges for National Register listing. In contrast, Hawaii’s Kauai island plans replacement of several iron truss bridges, highlighting regional differences in preservation approach.
