National Guard Air Wing To Get Facilities
Savannah report states Maryland's 4th Fighter Bomber Squadron will receive 2.1 million dollars for facilities at Glenn L. Martin Co. airport. Maj. Gen. Milton A. Reckord announced the plan during a squadron formation at Travis AFB on two-week maneuvers. The Martin site ends a threat to discontinue the wing and provides jet-capable basing after Harbor Field was unavailable. The funding from National Guard HQ in Washington may also expand a Martin runway.
