Road improvements and funding debate outlined by Governor
Governor Crothers discussed state road expansion costing roughly 9 million dollars, aiming to repair and widen highways through 1908 loans. He warned costs per mile would exceed estimates, but argued increased property values and tax receipts would cover expenses, urging retrenchment in other government spending and potential license tax increases to fund roads.

Five Years Of Reclamation In Nevada 1905 1910
The Reclamation Service opened in Nevada on June 17, 1905 and by 1910 had expanded to 26 projects with expenditures around 60 million dollars. It built 4,216 miles of canals, many crossing rivers, completed major dams including Roosevelt Dam and Shoshone Dam, and produced 14 million dollars in crop value in irrigated lands. The service faced budget cuts and staff reductions while pursuing large masonry structures and hundreds of miles of roads telephones and levees. Roughly 70 miles of levees and thousands of barrels of cement were part of its assets. Total funds and revenues from the Reclamation Act reached about 68 million by February 28 1910 with several million still held by the U.S. Treasury and additional cash and credits from operations.
