William Ody a Negro attempted to assault Miss Virginia Tucker of Clayton. He dragged her from a buggy, breaking both her legs. A mob seized him, identified him, and burned him near the scene as Tucker and locals watched. Her condition was critical at the time.
In Nanticoke July 18 the Susquehanna Co began operating its No 7 Leaner breaker the first attempt to run a breaker in the anthracite region since the strike. Company officials say stock coal will be shipped daily from this colliery. Headquarters deny significance, noting coal already gathered and ready. The breaker uses patent coal pickers and requires only one operator.
Washington reports Captain Ludlam of the Hereford Inlet life saving station Anglesea New Jersey saved a boy after 23 minutes under water during a harbor squall July 5. The child regained consciousness within four hours. affidavits from the father a medical student and a trained nurse substantiate the rescue claims.

Captain John Morris and James Harvey and family survived a capsizing about five miles southeast of Richmond Island while cruising Maine.
