APC Corp to close Frederick plant affecting 170 workers

APC NetworkAIR Corp will close its Frederick Maryland manufacturing plant on Bailes Lane in December, cutting about 170 workers. The Rhode Island main plant also reduced staff by 170, leaving 1,300 employees, as the downturn in data centers and telecom gear reduces demand for precision cooling equipment. Some staff will transfer to offices in other locations while remaining workers continue base wages and benefits through September 4. Continued on Page A12.

Bartlett offers Buckeystown farm for energy plant site

Bartlett proposes his 105 acre Buckeystown property as a potential site for a Duke Energy Allegheny Energy power plant. He notes neighbors such as Essroe Materials and Tamko Roofing and says the project would use 25 acres. Duke filed an application with Maryland Public Service Commission for a site near Point of Rocks.
