Frederick girl to compete in national pageant
Whitney Whiten, nine, of Frederick, was named Miss Maryland Sweetheart and will represent the state at the 1999 National American Miss pageant in Disney World. She won $500 cash, $250 talent prize, $250 photogenic prize, a $1,000 modeling school scholarship, a crown, banner, roses, and a two‑person Disney World trip. Her supporters travel to Florida in November to cheer her on amid a busy schedule balancing golf, swimming, and cheerleading.
