Despondent woman kills self with shotgun
Despondent 31 year old Mrs Violet Fulmer Mathews shot herself with a 210 gauge shotgun in the parlor of her home at 8 Market Space about 5:30 this morning. The county medical examiner ruled death by self action after investigations by city and county authorities. Her husband, William Eugene Mathews, heard the shot at 6:30 and found her body. Police and sheriff’s deputies conducted several hours of inquiry and tests showed the muzzle was within eight inches of her body. The gun had been borrowed from her father in law, Russell Mathews, to shoot hawks. Mrs Mathews, employed at Muse Tailoring Co, was a member of Evangelical Lutheran church. She leaves husband and one brother Thomas F Fulmer. Funeral set for Friday at 2 pm from 106 East Church Street. Interment Mt Olivet cemetery. Funeral directors M. R Etchi: Reon and Son.

Firemen were summoned to two minor car blazes this morning. At 9 23 a m on Route 30 between Braddock Heights and Middletown wiring of a pickup was reported afire but caused no damage and was quickly extinguished. A second call at 3 30 p m to a coupe fire on South Market Street opposite Olivet Boulevard was also quickly extinguished.
A-Bomb Plant To Be Made Permanent At Los Alamos
The Atomic Energy Commission plans to permanently size and modernize the Los Alamos laboratory town in New Mexico. Carroll L. Tyler will head the facility, succeeding Col. Herbert C. Gee, as more than 1,000 new homes and new schools and services are planned.
