Rezoning recommended to protect historic South Mountain lands

Frederick County Planning Commission voted unanimously to rezone 144.7 acres on Fox Gap Road from conservation to agricultural, aiming to preserve farmland and allow transfer of development rights away from the historic site. The panel also backed conserving 20.7 acres near Coxey Brown Road for four additional Neel family lots, while denying 26.6 acres of Gambrill South for a low density residential split. Final decisions rest with county commissioners in the fall.
