Construction accident kills man on I-270 in Maryland
A 55-year-old construction worker, Archie Ison of Kentucky, was killed Wednesday while guiding storm drain pipes during I 270 widening near Md 28 in Montgomery County. The pipes were 4 feet in diameter and 10 feet long when a winch slammed them together during a miscommunication. Ison died at the scene.

Hit and run suspects sought after Md 355 chase
Two teens fled after a high speed eight mile chase on Md 355 near the Frederick Montgomery line. Sharon Tonkin of Lewisdale Road was critically injured when her BMW was hit head on by a blue Mercury driven by Richard King. Wayne Chadderton remained at the scene with minor injuries. King and Dorsey are at large as police pursue theft and fleeing charges.

Two Frederick County road projects affect traffic patterns
Two highway projects begin within weeks in Frederick County altering traffic on Md 484 and Lander Road and US 15 near Hayward Road for about a month each. U.S. 15 median changes ban straight through and left turns from Hayward Road and Md 355 while allowing turns from north and south. Md 464 at Lander Road will be lowered in a $400,000 project by Wolfe Brothers, with both Md 464 and Lander Road closed during construction and detours posted along US 340, US 15, and Md 17. Construction slated to start the week of July 20.
