County to be reimbursed over ten thousand for state prisoners

Maryland plans to pay Frederick County more than $10 000 as reimbursement for housing state Division of Corrections prisoners at the Frederick County Jail. Sheriff Donald Barnes says most state prisoners arrive due to a bottleneck at the Maryland Diagnostic Center and that funds are allocated by the legislature. County Comptroller Thomas Fox cautions the reimbursement may not be full and could cover about 75 percent, noting daily costs of about 12 39 per prisoner and budget planning challenges when state inmates are included.
