Frederick City Police Chief Major Richard J Ashton reports that 200 drunken drivers were arrested between July 1 1975 and June 3 1976 with 81.5 percent white males. Most arrests occurred Friday to Monday and between 9 pm and 3 am. Most offenders were under 40 and a fatal intoxicated crash occurred in the period. Driving while intoxicated carries higher penalties in Maryland with blood alcohol levels and testing options explained. 154 of the arrested have been tried as of now.

Frank W. Higinbotham, president of Blue Ridge Oil Company, Frederick, has been named to the Farmers & Mechanics National Bank advisory board for the Walkersville office. Born in Charles Town W Va he moved to New Oxford Pa in 1927 and graduated in 1933. He began in oil with Aero Oil in 1930, became Aero president in 1964, moved to Frederick in 1954 as Blue Ridge president, and remains on Aero’s board and on the parent firm’s three member operating committee. He is also a member of the three man operating committee.
