iCortisone Effective In Cattle
Dr Joseph C Shaw and Dr B C Hatzionns from the University of Maryland Dairy Department report that Cortisone may cure ketosis in dairy cattle also known as acetoneemia. Ketosis often hits high producing cows after calving and causes loss of appetite, reduced milk, weight loss, and weakness. The scientists note that ketosis relates to adrenal and pituitary gland function and fatty liver develops later from starvation, suggesting cortisone could prove valuable as production increases and larger supplies become available.
