Minister Of 84 Still Leads Active Life at Gettysburg Address
Rev. W. H. Bettlemyer of Middletown, 84, remains active in retirement. He recalls being present for Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and considers his age, health, and optimistic view of modern progress. Bettlemyer, born March 8, 1638 in Cambria County, Pa, attended Wittenberg College and Gettysburg Theological Seminary, was ordained in 1869, and served as pastor at Jefferson Lutheran Church before retiring. He enjoys home life with wife Margaret Beckwith and avoids aviation, preferring slow-paced recreation.
