Beirut Hijackers Fang TWA Flight Drama Amid Calls for Trial
Associated Press reports Berri signals openness to a trial while Amal cannot identify all hijackers as authorities stress their leaders only. The Beirut airport has seen at least 12 hijackings in six years with no punishment. Stethem’s death, gunmen threats, and U.S. pressure to prosecute frame a tense response as Atwi linked to the case faces Athens detention and Algiers flights before Beirut. The hijackers released over 100 of 153 passengers in the early days of the saga.
