Drowned girl in Hudson pond accident ruled accidental
A 12 year old Frederick girl Jennifer Ann Gessner drowned in a murky man made pond in Stuyvesant Hudson County on Wednesday afternoon. State police said she was pulled from 20 feet of water near a 15 foot dock and pronounced dead at Columbia Memorial Hospital at 6 10 p m. Coroner Carmine Cross ruled the death an accidental drowning thought to be caused by an epileptic seizure. She was visiting relatives near the pond owned by Jane Jessup and swam with 11 other children before two adults performed a head count. Divers made up to 50 attempts to recover her but were unsuccessful.
