TwoNorth Johnston High School students Jimmy Evans and Dennis Strickland won first place in the 15th annual Plymouth National Trouble Shooting championship held in Kenly North Carolina with top awards including a Walter P Chrysler trophy and a $2,500 college scholarship. James Black and Steven Smith of Los Altos California earned the Chrysler scholarship for their fourth place finish. The event featured 50 state champion teams racing to diagnose 50 Volare wagons and correct 10 hidden malfunctions. A banquet at McCormick Inn honored the champions with over $45,000 in prizes and scholarships totaling 340 students aided since 1962.
Dodge Dodge unveils MB300 109 inch front section chassis for small motorhomes used by Fleetwood and Champion. Since 1958 Dodge built the first motorhome chassis and in 1971 the first front section for mini-motorhomes. The company offers eight mini front section chassis and six stripped full size chassis.
