Drug policy clash over debate moves to commission
In Montgomery County a conflict between State's Attorney Andrew L. Sonner and County Executive Douglas M. Duncan over debating the future of drug enforcement escalated. Duncan refused to debate, citing the Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission, while Sonner pressed for public discussion and outlined a plan focusing on prosecuting serious drug offenders and expanding treatment. Sonner plans to brief the County Council as his policy goes into effect Aug. 1.
