County to Acquire Eye in the Sky Police Copter
A state police operated helicopter to be based at Frederick Municipal Airport will provide 24 hour coverage for Western Maryland. A ten member crew will train and the county will fund a temporary hangar fee under 45 dollars monthly. The craft will serve Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick, Carroll, Montgomery and possibly Howard counties for emergencies and patrols including monitoring drag racing in Thurmont and Burkittsville.

Building Permits Up 30 Percent
Planning Commission staff director Lawrence Johnson reported that residential building permit approvals for the first six months of 1972 rose 30 percent from the same period in 1971. A total of 1 944 permits were approved including 400 single family units 500 town house and multi family units and 34 mobile homes. Law Conference Speakers Set for July 14 at Frederick CC
Rep. Goodloe Byron announced the July 14 district wide Law Enforcement Conference at Frederick Community College. Over 100 representatives from courts and local, municipal, county governments and law enforcement agencies will attend to discuss state and federal crime fighting funds. George Trubow of the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration will deliver the principal address on federal programs. Richard Wertz of the Governor's Commission will discuss state aid programs. A panel will cover needs for Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick, Carroll, Howard and Baltimore Counties with a consultation period for local officials and Federal Bureau of Investigation representatives. Last year Byron held a similar conference on economic development at Allegany Community College.
