Firefighters Parade Awards Highlight Woodsboro Event
Carroll Manor Fire Department earned a trophy for the best appearing apparatus at the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Company parade. Hyattstown and Damascus followed in best appearances. Walkersville led the march with Independent Hose Company of Frederick providing the most men. Arcadia had the longest distance, Bethesda the oldest ambulance, and New Midway supplied the best appearing video equipment. Majorette groups led by the Highlighters of Frederick claimed first, with Towson Skylarks, Frederick Shamrocks, Frederick Twirlettes, Union Bridge Lanettes, and Fairmount Twirlers placing sequentially. Harmony Concert Band was best appearing senior band. Walkersville High School best appearing high school band, Walkersville Junior High second. Rainbow Roller Rink Taneytown won best float. Rocky Ridge Youth Fellowship best non-firemen’s group, Little League Woodsboro first in judges’ award. Cash prizes accompanied band, float, non-firemen’s group, and judges’ award wins. Nelson Myers took a trophy for best appearing antique car.
