A 29-year-old Frederick woman Elza beth Wolfe of East Fifth street was charged with assault with intent to kill after allegedly shooting Ernest H. Weddle proprietor of the North Star Lunch at 22 West Seventh street. Weddle, shot in the left shoulder with a .38 caliber revolver, was listed in fair condition at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown after being taken to Frederick Memorial.

Harding love letters found in Marion home town file
A cache of more than 250 letters Harding wrote to Mrs. James Phillips of Marton were found in Warren G. Harding’s hometown of Marion Ohio. Historian Francis Russell says the letters support claims of affairs during Harding’s marriage and narrows to 1909 1920.
