Frederick County deputies responded to a reckless driving report on Ballenger Creek Pike and found Daniel James Collins, 29, dead by suicide in a Pebble Court parking lot. Witnesses said he had been drinking in Gaithersburg until about 11:30 p.m. and drove off in a friend's 1997 white Chevy pickup with a 22-250 rifle, calling his former girlfriend and then firing one shot while holding a cell phone.
