Four firms vie for MontCo cable contract
Four firms remain in the running for Montgomery County's multi million dollar cable franchise with Tribune United leading the field ahead of Times Mirror Viacom Cablevision of Maryland and First County Cable. The county staff and outside consultant ranked Times Mirror first on a close scoring slate, while Tribune United led in first place votes. The process will move to a final three member review panel before county executive decision and contract finalization aimed for mid September with a 5 percent gross revenue franchise fee to fund regulatory costs and community programming.
