Riots erupt at Maryland Penitentiary in Baltimore
In Baltimore Maryland Prison inmates began a riot at the Maryland Penitentiary. Buildings were set on fire and guards were injured in scuffles. Prison officials and state correction commissioner Pepersack described a large riot beginning after lunch in the recreation yard with attempts to incite 800 to 1,000 inmates.

Prison Escapee Captured In Maryland After K-9 Alert
Octavious Jones age 19 of Baltimore was arrested around 4 30 am in a corn field along U S 40A west of Mount Town after a motorist report of a man in the roadway and a barking K 9 unit. He had escaped from the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown where he was serving six months for assault by stabbing.
