NEW YORK AP The Steel workers Union announced it has taken its contract dispute directly to Vice President Richard Nixon. David J. McDonald said he told Nixon in Pittsburgh Tuesday morning that the union will not grant any extension beyond the July 14 strike deadline. McDonald explained he avoided attending steel talks for a baseball All Stars event. he plans to reconvene the Wage Policy Committee soon but will not recommend further extensions under present conditions.
