Elevated Highway for 240 Proposed
Maryland official David Scull floated an elevated seven mile Route 240 spur over the Georgetown spur of the B and O to connect the District. He estimated a cost near 10 million dollars per mile, with 90 percent federal funding and 10 percent local. The plan would route traffic from Linden to the Army Map Service area, serving Wisconsin Avenue, Bradley Boulevard, River Road, Route 29, and the proposed northern parkway.
