Tariff Bill Passes Senate and Heads to Conference

The tariff bill advanced in the Senate by a decisive vote just before 5 pm and now moves to a conference with the House to reconcile differences. Conferees named include Aldrich Platt of Connecticut Burrows Jones of Nevada West Jones of Arkansas White from the Senate side. The bill reopens anti trust provisions and adds a stamp tax on bonds while keeping reciprocity provisions. The first conferees meeting is planned for today in the Senate Finance Committee room with House Republicans Dingley Payne Dalzell Hopkins Grosvenor and Democrats Bailey McMillan Wheeler.

Victims of Heat and Liquor in Marlboro
