GM Stock At New High On Split Plans In 1955
New York July 6 General Motors stock surged to a record high as it announced a three for one split plan. GM closed at 127.75 after rising 14.37, on heavy turnover, with 482,124 shareholders owning the company valued around five billion dollars. Du Pont expanded stakes alongside GM, with Christiana Securities rising on the tie in. The plan would raise authorized shares from 150 million to 500 million with 278,683,500 outstanding shares post split and a savings stock plan for over 100,000 salaried employees.
