South Market street to be transformed into storm sewer
A city plan transforms a stretch south of South Street on South Market Street into a storm water sewer extending about 150 feet to the Maryland State School for the Deaf grounds. Jacob H. Schmidt, owner, cites a $600 build cost and a $150 purchase, with others contributing. The project aims to ease hill and intersection flooding in heavy rain and winter ice. A new catch basin will be installed and the bottom-hill basin relieved. Alderman Grove questions 12 inch capacity. Representatives from Maddox Management Corp, Washington, discuss automatic sewer flushers but no action. John W. Grove may use water from his Grove Boulevard home during construction until a water main can be installed. The mayor and board may attend Hustlers baseball outing tonight. Bills totaling 3437.40 are approved for payment.
