Wheat Damaged by Heavy Rain Across County
Reports from county sections indicate heavy rain damaged the wheat significantly. Some grain sprouted, farmers pulled stocks apart to dry drenched grain, and about 10 percent of the crop remains uncut. Water soaked standing grain and shacks were washed away, with fields, mills, and roads affected. An average county yield is projected around 35 bushels per acre, below earlier prospects.
