Freedmen Red Men Celebration Attracts Large Frederick Crowd
A two day celebration in Frederick featuring a fraternal parade and a grand Red Men parade drew huge crowds despite extreme heat. Visiting lodges from Hagerstown and beyond, including Chippewa and Logan tribes, filled Market Street with bands floats and colorful regalia. Officials noted strong spectator enthusiasm, costly prizes, and eventual quiet as the event concluded and residents returned to normal city life.
