Gasoline motor fire damages Thurmont area sawmill
A gasoline powered motor touched off a fire Sunday at a sawmill west of Thurmont causing about 15000 in damage. The mill owned by Jess Willard was inactive. Fire officials say the blaze started from the gas powered motor driving the saw and was not arson. The roof and equipment were damaged. firefighters from Wolfsville Thurmont Graceham and Smithsburg stopped the blaze in about 10 minutes.

Nine accidents in Carroll County over weekend
Two Sunday crashes in Carroll County sent nine people to area hospitals. In Eldersburg a subcompact hit a minivan on Bartholow Road injuring seven, with driver Kathleen Zorn-Inskeep 42 and teen Byron Inskeep in serious but stable condition at Johns Hopkins. In the second crash Patrick Yerdon 55 and Linda Yerdon 54 were seriously injured when his sedan struck a pickup at Md 27 and Chapel Road. John Russell 49 of New Windsor faced charges after the incident.

Amir Brikho withdrew a large sum at Valle de Oro Bank in La Mesa when a teller released an exploding dye and tear gas pack meant for bank robbers. He burned, saw smoke from his shorts, returned inside with the burning shorts, collapsed, and was treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Officials declined to comment.
