Maryland official G Bates Chaires announced the 4.7 mile relocation of U S 40 between Crystal Park near Cumberland and Frostburg. The project budget exceeds 1 million dollars and will take about a year to complete. The revised highway will be 26 to 44 feet wide with two to four lanes and requires moving nine homes. George H. Sigler Jr., 18, is to be charged with manslaughter by automobile in the death of 16 year old Bruce W. Metz of Braddock.
